Prediction of Doomsday in 2012 contradicts the New Testament, the Russian Church says.

Moscow, March 31, Interfax - The prediction of the end of the world in 2012 has nothing to do with Christianity, Vladimir Legoyda, the head of the Synodal Information Department of the Moscow Patriarchate, said.

"According to the Christian worldview, any person who states the date of Doomsday puts on a great deal," Vladimir Legoyda said in an interview to Govorit Moskva radio station.

He explained that such statement was "outside the evangelical logic" because according to the Holy Writ, "of that day or that hour no one has knowledge, not even the angels in heaven, or the Son, but the Father." (Mark 13:32)

Legoyda reminded that many people "repeatedly predicted the end of the world on different days," and those who wish to understand the Church's attitude to such prophesies should read the New Testament more carefully.
