"The Megas Konostaulos (Konostaulos or konostablos, which was equivalent to Great Condestable) Licario accepted the surrender of a Venetian officer Paolo Navigajoso service, which is presented by the Archon of Gasmouloi. A Latin mercenary observes the scene. Licario reconquered Euboea and many Aegean islands for the Eastern Roman Empire in the early 70's of the thirteenth century. He was named Megas Dukas, the first foreigner to get that title.
