On Pentecost Sunday, 31 May 2015, His Grace Bishop MACARIE (Macarius) of the Romanian Orthodox Church together with a group of priests and deacons celebrated the Divine Liturgy and the Service of Kneeling Prayers at a Romanian parish in Copenhagen, Denmark. On this occasion, Jon Gissel, a Danish professor of Byzantine History at the University of Copenhagen, was received into the Orthodox Church by Holy Baptism, after nearly three years of spiritual catechism. His Grace gifted him with a silver crucifix modeled after the Northern Cross, an icon of the Holy Prophet and Forerunner John, a towel, and several books on Romanian Orthodox spirituality in Danish
