It was already getting dark, and in a car he drove through Mtskheta when he noticed a man who looked like a homeless person walking on the road. He decided not to stop the car, thinking that this bum would get into the car, and then the whole car would smell like him. He thought about it and did not stop. He drove 400 meters, his conscience began to torment him, and he nevertheless turned the car around, put the stranger into his car and continued moving in the direction of Samtavro monastery. Suddenly in the car, a wonderful fragrance was felt, which lasted a long time. The driver thought, where did such a pleasant "church" smell come from? At this time, the elder Gabriel turned to him and said: “Well, my dear neighbor! Did your car stink? Does your car smell ?! ”Then the driver understood where this fragrance came from, and that this person reads minds. Saying goodbye, the traveler said that his name was “Monk Gabriel” and that the driver would come to his grave and kneel. Naturally, the driver did not understand what he was talking about and thought: “How can I come to his grave, how do I know when and where he will be buried! Yes, even kneeling! ”..
A few years passed, and the driver from Germany was given donations for Samtavro Monastery. He traveled by car and, having come a long way, reached Mtskheta by three o'clock in the morning. The monastery, of course, was closed, he began to knock on the iron door, and soon one of the mothers opened the door for him. He told the mothers that from Germany they gave him donations for the monastery. The mothers were delighted and, in a sign of gratitude, took this man’s hand and led him somewhere. It was night and the driver did not understand where the nuns were dragging him. Mother handed him oil from a lamp from a grave and earnestly asked to kneel. With a feeling of internal protest, he knelt and heard from mother: “Do not think that this is a simple butter. This is the miraculous oil from the grave of our beloved monk Gabriel "... And then he was dumbfounded! All internal anger and protest were replaced by amazement in him! He looked at the photo of the old man Gabriel and recognized the very “beggar in torn clothes” who told him several years ago: “You will come to my grave and kneel” ... The eyes of the driver, who was bending before the grave of old man Gabriel, filled with tears.
