"Give and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be put into your lap." (Luke 6:38)
The basic tenet of this above verse is not that "we only get what we give," but that generosity begets generosity. Jesus uses the imagery of measuring grain in a basket to not only ensure that the measure you use will be measured back to you, but that it will be vastly enhanced as well: "pressed down, shaken together, and running over."
Therefore, give away your life, and you'll find life given back, but not merely given back – given back with bonus and blessing.
