Saydnaya is Aramaic for deer/gazelle hunt. Built in 527 it is one of the oldest convents in the world. It holds an order of nuns, some of which were kidnapped by islamists during the war. The convent is under the jurisdiction of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch
