“For God is my witness.” (Philippians 2:8)
At first blush, the above verse sounds like God is simply seeing all we do – which is true. Yet Paul’s intent was just the opposite. He wanted to express the fact that his own life was spent offering witness to the Lord. As followers of Jesus Christ, we must also be believers of His Word. Therefore, we are called upon to witness for Him through our actions and speech, conducting ourselves by submitting to His Will, His Word, and His Law. There is no wiggle room in Christianity, nor should we look for any. Either we witness for Christ, or we don’t.
Fr. John
