“Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.” (1st Peter 4:9)
Hospitality is a Christian virtue that should be practiced regularly; for it is akin to charity. St. Peter reiterates this fact and encourages all Christians to do so willfully, joyfully, and “without grumbling.” This means that it is done with true love and without feelings of obligation. Thus, hospitality should define not only us as Christians, but the Church itself. Therefore, Christ’s Church should be the most welcoming place in town. His Church, and not the local bar, should be the place where “everybody knows your name.”
Fr. John
