Andronicus III Palaeologus was Roman Emperor in 1328 - 1341.He was active Ruler who tried to strengthen the Eastern Roman Empire during a period of inevitable decline.Andronicus suffered setbacks in the wars against the Ottoman Turks, Bulgaria & Serbia, yet recovered to the Empire  Chios, Lesbos, Phocaea, Thessaly,& Epirus. His early death was a disaster as it left a power vacuum which resulted in a bloody Civil War (1341 - 1347).
