The Coronation Mantle of the King Stephen I of Hungary, used on 15 August 1031, is the prime surviving example of the Byzantine Silk, built on two-coloured base silk of medieval Roman origin. The surface of the 989 years old mantle is almost completely covered by gold embroidery.
