The Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire. Made in the late 10th or early 11th century, this Byzantine style octagonal crown is made of 22ct gold and decorated with 144 precious stones. Emperors were crowned with it from the 11th century to the dissolution of the empire in 1806.
