Although it is not recorded in the gospels per se, there is a longstanding oral tradition of the Church that just as the cock crowed following His disciple's third denial, Jesus turned His head to look at Peter and their eyes met; causing the disciple, in horror, to break down at the realization of his misdeeds and go away weeping uncontrollably.
