The Apostle John addresses his second epistle to “the elect lady and her children” (2nd John 1:1). Since Christ is often referred to as the “Bridegroom,” the Church is naturally His “Bride.” Thus, the elect or “chosen” lady is The Church. This also explains why our churches are so beautifully adorned inside and out – like a bride.
