As Christians, we are called “children of God,” but St. Paul goes on to say that we are also “children of promise” (Gal. 4:28).
According to the dictionary, a promise is a legally binding declaration that gives the person to whom it is made a right to expect or to claim the performance or forbearance of a specified act.
Therefore, through Christ’s death and resurrection we are made “heirs” to God’s kingdom.
However, a promise is a two-way street: one can either accept or reject a promise. Thus, if we do wish to be children of God we had better act like children of God – obeying our Heavenly Father and fulfilling His will.
