Once two women came to Tbilisi to see the elder. They had a long talk, and Father Gabriel invited them to his cell. After sitting a little, the women asked him for permission to smoke. He, as if nothing had happened, allowed them to smoke. The women quietly began to light cigarettes, when suddenly a nun approached the cell, read a prayer and asked for permission to enter. The women were confused, they felt ashamed, and right there these lighted cigarettes were thrust into the hands of the elder Gabriel. And here he is sitting with two lit cigarettes in his hands in his cell, with two women. 

When the nun saw Elder Gabriel with two women and with lit cigarettes, she stammered in surprise and asked: “What? How? You? How so? Father Gabriel, do you smoke or what? ”

The women turned red, could not say a word, and the father looked at the nun, raising his eyebrows, and said: “Yes, but why? When I want, I light a cigarette with my right hand, and when I want, I light a cigarette with my left hand. What's so special about that ?! ”

The nun excused herself and ran out of the cell. Realizing what happened, those women quit smoking!
