For some reason, some people realize that Jesus Christ is the incarnate God, while others don’t.
Some people have the desire to follow Him, while others don’t.
For some, Christ is the only value in the universe, while for others, He is someone to hate.
Why does it happen this way?
This is a great mystery, but certainly, everything begins with our personal free choice.
Whether we want to be with Christ or not is our absolutely free personal choice; and it does not depend on anything else, it doesn’t depend on any outside factors.
If this was dependent on some outside factor, then the matter of salvation or damnation of a person, from the Christian point of view, would not make sense.
The free will would no longer exist. Instead, everything would be predetermined - some people would be destined for salvation and others for damnation.
Therefore, the responsibility is on us: if we choose Jesus Christ as the only true value in our life, then we will be counted worthy of eternal union and joy with Him.
And if we don’t choose Him as the only value - the only meaning of our life, then we won’t be able to put the blame on anyone else. In this case, we will find ourselves in the condition of a man from the parable of the Holy Gospel, when the Lord asks a newcomer at the wedding why he isn’t wearing a wedding garment.
We know the reaction of this man - he was speechless and had nothing to say. Just like him, we'll have nothing to say. May God protect us from this.
Thus, the full responsibility is on us. God desires to save everyone and the only thing that gets in the way of this is ourselves.
We are the only enemy of ourselves.
However, we also have a very powerful weapon to fight against ourselves: this is the incarnate God – Jesus Christ, our ability to call upon His name and to open our hearts to Him.
