When a person
starts living the right spiritual life, when he starts learning the noetic
prayer, he sees within himself the death of the soul, he sees the hell and the
outer darkness, the abyss which separates us from God.
At the same
time, he has a tremendous burning desire to be with God and this is when the
true prayer begins: “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me!”
This prayer,
together with the Holy Communion, brings in us the divine grace and the person
becomes a temple of the Holy Spirit and in him begins the process of theosis,
the process of overcoming the abyss which separates him from God.
A person
moving in this direction, no matter when (in what stage of development) he
passes away, he is, within himself, a person resurrected from the dead, even if
this does not show in his outward appearance, even if nobody sees this, when
this person passes away, nothing will be able to hold him on earth, his soul
will pass into the eternal life, not just with the angels, not in some astral,
but with God Himself, and after the Lord's glorious Second Coming, his body –
deified, will be united with his soul and we will all be together with the
Lord.
As the
Apostle Paul says: “we shall always be with the Lord.” Amen!
Archpriest Theodore Gignadze
