In this morning's gospel Jesus is invited to the home of Simon the Pharisee to dine. Yet at other times during His ministry, our Lord goes into the homes of sinners to eat with tax collectors, thieves, prostitutes, and other so-called outcasts. Because of this, many righteous people were not gentle in their condemnation or rebukes towards Christ, saying, "This man welcomes sinners, and eats with them!" And they were right. He did. As someone once said, "Jesus never lost his taste for bad company," and I sure am glad for that, because that means there is room at His table even for a sinful priest like me!
