“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matt: 11:28)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matt: 11:28)

This is one of the most comforting verses in the Gospels, let alone all of scripture. It is an open invitation from our Lord, extended to those who are willing to listen, offering peace and rest in the comfort of His grace and mercy.

Sin is indeed a great and terrible “burden,” a brutal slave-master that impedes body and soul from union with God. Yet Christ took on this burden and offers us redemption and forgiveness of our sins – easing the strain of our existence and rest for our soul.
