Adam in Paradise was blissfully happy, nothing could cast a shadow on his happiness, he was not tortured by the Evil, there was no sinful nature standing between him and God. Despite this, Adam needed a friend, in order to let the image of God embedded in him accomplish to the full.

Each of us equally is in desperate need of a friend, but we know how hard it is to find a soul mate, which means the unity of the souls. In other words, this means that two, three, four creatures who are friends, are pursuing God.

How come people are eagerly seeking the Lord and between them there is sin, misunderstanding, envy, quarrel, avarice, indifference, lack of love, annoyance, rage in particular? If these things exist between them, that is because they are unable to aspire to God, they do not have the right faith.

This is especially painful between parents and children. When a mother gives birth to her child, the child is part of her earthly flesh. However the child’s spirit is completely separate. This happens to be a problem among other members of the family as well, and it is a real disaster when a similar problem occurs between spouses.

Apostle Paul warns us that we shall experience worldly troubles in marriage, but this is not because marriage is wrong - nothing else could be more beautiful and wonderful than marriage. We happen to face troubles because we take a wrong step when choosing a spouse.

How can friendship rest between spouses? Only through unity of souls...

Unfortunately people quite often do not take any notice of it. They do not understand that each person is unique and extremely interesting, especially when he/she is seeking the Lord. This pursuit makes him/her even more beautiful, charming, attractive and radiant.

It is a disaster in case one of the spouses is like that, and the other cannot see it! If neither of them is like that, it is another kind of disaster!

In case both of them aspire to God, acquire divine grace and eventually are the light of the world, they are the light for each other consequently. When spouses are the light of Christ for each other, their life turns into a bliss. Their children grow up in true happiness, develop into normal human beings and follow in their parents’ footsteps.
