From Zoophilia of the Saints and the Zoophilia of the Animals

Abba Alexander once went to the cave of Abba Paul the Greek. As they were discussing, an outside noise was heard. Abba Paul then took bread and wet legumes and gave it to someone. Abba Alexander, believing he was a passerby, leaned over to see who he was. And he was surprised to see a lion!

"Why are you feeding it?" asked Abba Paul.

"I commanded him to kill neither man nor any animal, and I promised him to supply him with his daily food," Abba Paul replied. "It's been seven months since then and every other day he comes and I give him his food."
