MONK AND GOD

One monk lived in the desert, diligently making a prayer, even getting up for it at night. And the food was brought to him by an ordinary such peasant, a little gloomy, as if he had not slept. Once, the monk decided to spend the whole day next to him, and this is what he noticed. The peasant got up early in the morning, said: “Lord,” and walked into the field. There he plowed all day, and returning to the night, before going to bed, he said a second time: “Lord.” "And only this," the hermit grieved. And after some time I decided to go to the confessor for advice - how to teach a peasant to pray. The elder thought and suggested to begin with the following: “Take this cup full of oil and go around the village, but just look, do not spill a drop”. The young monk performed everything exactly and again appeared before the confessor. “Tell me, how many times did you remember God while you were carrying the cup?” He asked. "Never, - confused the monk. “I was only thinking about how not to spill oil.” “This is one bowl of oil that so occupied you,” the elder continued, “that you have never remembered God. And the peasant himself feeds you with his work and care, and then twice a day he remembers God.
