When Archimandrite Pavel Gruzdev was sitting in the camp, he appointed himself such an obedience: all his term he would get up an hour before getting up and wash the entire barracks. Then, after his release, already being the rector, he himself washed the floors in the temple. And once this humble skill saved his life.
In the main aisle of the Trinity Church in the village of Verkhne-Nikulskoe, where Father Pavel Gruzdev served, the brick arch of the dome collapsed. The temple has long been in need of repair, because its foundation was constantly washed away by the waters of the Rybinsk reservoir, causing great harm to all temple buildings. Of course, there was no money for this repair, for the restoration of the temple. But even in the way these vaults collapsed, God's mercy and concern for His chosen one is also visible.
Here is how it was. Father himself washed the floors in the main aisle. Suddenly, a large thorn pierced his hand. The pain was such that the priest threw down the rag and left the church. And at that very moment, the dome collapsed. Multi-ton boulders broke through the floor, and in the very place where Father Pavel stood a few seconds ago! When he returned to the temple, he saw clouds of settling dust and a pile of stone in the very place where he had just stood ... There was a gaping hole in the dome, through which one could see the clear blue sky. And yet, miraculously, no one was hurt.
