“Blessed be God…Father of mercies and God of all comfort.” (2nd Cor. 2:3)
Our God is a compassionate, merciful God Who ministers to us in times of trouble and distress. He offers healing and comfort to our beleaguered mind, heart, and soul. He assuages our grief, anguish, and pain.
However, comfort implies at least two parties: the one who gives comfort and the one who receives it. And just as we are encouraged to accept God’s love and offer it freely to others, we are called upon to also offer comfort in the same way; helping others to cope by offering support and love.
