“Pray without ceasing.” (1st Thessalonians 5:17)
“Pray without ceasing.” (1st Thessalonians 5:17)
Praying without ceasing does not mean that we are to stand or kneel in prayer with our eyes closed all day long, day in and day out, but rather to be mindful of God throughout our waking moments. To be conscious and aware that “God is with us,” and we should be “with” Him. In other words, the importance, awareness, and need of God should be just like our body’s dependence upon breathing. And just as at times our body requires greater and lesser amounts of oxygen, so does our soul as we undergo spiritual exertion in times of stress and tragedy.
Fr. John
