On Silence:

Practicing silence and the act of listening are all but lost arts. It seems that man would much rather fill up his silence with noise and enjoys talking as opposed to listening. Yet St. Gregory Nazianen offers this sage advice on the subject: "Speak when your words are more desirable than silence, but love silence when it is better than words." The intricate relationship between silence and listening, therefore, is perhaps the reason why SILENT and LISTEN are spelled using the same letters.
