“Is this not the carpenter’s son?” (Matthew 13:55)
When our Lord tried to minister to the area around Nazareth, they rejected Jesus solely because they knew Him as the carpenter’s son. They could not see “Who” He was for “what” He was. Thus, a whole people missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime. How many sick and suffering people could have been cured by Jesus had they just given Him the benefit of the doubt? How many could have been renewed by hope had they just opened their ears to listen? And how many could have received salvation had they looked beyond the little boy working in His father’s carpenter shop?
Fr. John
