Two great figures of the eastern Empire, brothers Constantine-Cyril and Methody created the Glagolitic alphabet, which later became the basis of the Cyrillic alphabet, on which today write 300 million people around the world. Their ethnic origin does not matter. The Empire did not care about the ethnicity of its citizens. They created the Glagolitic alphabet under state order - because the purpose of the Empire to spread Christianity among all peoples.
