Eireks Saga Víðförla is a legendary saga about Eric the Traveller. He travels to Miklagard (Constantinople), with Eric the Dane. There he interects with a 'Greek King', possibly the Roman Emperor, who informs him on Christianity and Údáinsakr. After a period of study he then journeys to India and beyond in search of Údáinsakr (the Deathless Acre), and returns.
There is a suggestion that this event was in reality and possible took place at the second half of the 8th century AD, and therefore the "Greek King", with whom the meeting occurred, perhaps was Constantine V, who was the Emperor from 741 to 775 AD.
