Prophora
The bread we use within our Eucharistic services is called Prosphora, which in Greek means “offering.” Thus, during the Divine Liturgy, we lift-up the bread (lamb) and “offer” to God that which is already His: “Thine Own of Thine Own, we offer unto Thee, on behalf of all, and for all!”
Over the years we have built a steady group of prosphora bakers – and when kids are off from school, they also participate in this act of stewardship to the parish; offering ourselves to God in preparing and baking the offering we will give to God.
