Today is the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Theotokos into the Temple.

Today is the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Theotokos into the Temple, which commemorates Mary’s elderly parents, Joachim and Anna, presenting or “offering” their young three-year-old daughter to the priests to be raised as a Temple virgin or something akin to a nun. She was presented to this holy place to become herself a “holy place,” a Temple or “Holy of Holies” in which God, Himself would one day dwell.
