We are part of the worldwide Orthodox Church – the oldest Christian Church in the world. This is not a theological statement, it is an historical one. In every part of the world there are Orthodox churches, missions, and monasteries. They are found in traditionally Orthodox countries such as Russia, Greece, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine, and the Middle East. Orthodoxy is found in India, Japan, China, the Philippines, Germany, France, Poland, Finland, across the British Isles, and Scandinavia.
Orthodox churches are found throughout the African continent, including Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, and across Central and South America. In fact, the only religious structure of any kind on the entire continent of Antarctica is an Orthodox church. The oldest form of Christianity is alive and well, and found throughout the whole of the world.

The Orthodox Church does not see an obligation for her people to follow the Saturday Sabbath. Just as her faithful are not obligated to follow the Old Testament dietary restrictions, upon which our Jewish friends hold to Kosher laws, or the required practice of circumcision as a sign of our covenant with God, the Church does not require us to keep the Sabbath.
The Greek word for Saturday is pronounced “sabbado”, hence, Saturday is indeed the Sabbath. But our Orthodox tradition of observing Sunday as the Lord’s Day is based on the Early Church’s observance of Sunday as the Day of Resurrection.
The Orthodox Church has always seen Saturdays as having the feast day qualities of the Jewish Sabbath, and never needing a strict observance of fasting rules or obligations. Yet the Sabbath Day has always been seen, liturgically, as a day for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, just as is practiced on Sundays, the Lord’s Day. The celebration of the Divine Liturgy on Saturdays remains standard for most Orthodox monasteries.
We Christians are not under the Law, since the Law has been fulfilled in Jesus Christ. We are thus not subjected to the Old Law. The old Sabbath was the seal of the Old Creation, whereas Sunday is the seal of the New Creation. For this reason, Christians have never been bound by Sabbatical laws based on the Old Sabbath, the Saturday Sabbath being appropriate to the Old Testament.
For we Orthodox Christians, the center of our experience is the resurrection of Christ, and this has, from the beginning of the New Testament Church, been associated with the first day of the week.

Ὁ θάνατος ἀποτελεῖ μιά πραγματικότητα πού μέ κανένα τρόπο δέν μποροῦμε νά ἀρνηθοῦμε. Τήν ἒζησε, τή ζῆ καί θά τή ζῆ ἡ ἀνθρωπότητα ὃσο θά ὑπάρχη. Καί ἀσφαλῶς θά ἒχουμε πολύ πιό ἒντονες μορφές θανάτου ὃσο περνοῦν τά χρόνια παρά τήν πρόοδο τῆς ἐπιστήμης καί τῶν μέσων καταπολεμήσεως τῶν θανατηφόρων αἰτιῶν γιά τόν ἂνθρωπο.Ἂν ὃμως οἱ ἐκτός πίστεως δέν θέλουν συνήθως νά σκεφθοῦν τόν θάνατο, ἀλλά προσπαθοῦν νά τόν ἐξορήσουν ἀπό τή σκέψη τους, δέν πρέπει νά συμβαίνη τό ἲδιο μέ τούς πιστούς. Ὁ πιστός χριστιανός σκέπτεται τόν θάνατο. Γιά τόν πιστό ἡ μελέτη θανάτου δέν εἶναι μιά γεμάτη τρόμο καί φρίκη θεώρησή του οὒτε καί διακατέχεται ἀπό μιά πεισιθάνατο τάση, ἀλλά, ἀντίθετα ἀπό ὃ,τι νομίζεται ἀπό πολλούς, εἶναι ζωοποιός καί ἐνισχυτική στόν πνευματικό του ἀγώνα ἐνέργεια, γιατί ὁ πιστός ἐνισχύεται στήν πραγματική ἐκτίμηση τῆς ζωῆς καί τῆς δικῆς του καί τῶν ἂλλων καί ἀποτελεῖ σωτήριο δύναμη προχωρήσεως σέ βαθμούς ἀρετῆς ὑψηλότερους καί σέ διαρκῆ γρήγορση καί προσοχή στόν ἀγώνα τοῦ καλοῦ. Ἀκριβῶς αὐτό ἒχουν κατανοήσει πολύ καλά οἱ Πατέρες τῆς Ἐκκλησίας μας καί ἒχουν βιώσει τό μυστήριο τῆς ζωῆς σέ συνάφεια μέ τό μυστήριο τοῦ θανάτου καί ἀντίστροφα. Καί ἒτσι κατόρθωναν νά ξεπερνοῦν τό φόβο τοῦ θανάτου καί νά προσβλέπουν στό μυστήριο του ἐν πίστει καί ἐμπιστοσύνη στόν Κύριο τῆς ζωῆς καί τοῦ θανάτου διά μέσου τοῦ Σταυροῦ καί τῆς Ἀναστάσεως.

Οι Κομάντος τής Ορθοδοξίας ☦️... Μπορούν νά επιβιώσουν μέ ελάχιστο παξιμάδι γιά μήνες.... Κάτω από δύσκολες κλιματολογικές συνθήκες... Καί ό πόλεμος πού καλούνται νά παρουν μέρος...Είναι ασυνήθιστος καί δυσκολότερος γιά τά γήινα μέτρα...
