The Book of Proverbs states “A friend loves at all times” (17:17), and Christ taught that, “There is no greater love than laying down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13). Thus, love and friendship are inexplicably intertwined.
From the beginning of time humans were created to be relational with friendships being an important component to our existence because, this is how we share God’s love for us: with one another. This is also how we bond and form relationships of trust, respect, and mutual affection – just as reflected amongst the Triune Godhead Itself. Yet the most important thing to remember is that to have a friend, one must be a friend!
