“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (Colossians 3:2)
God, in His ultimate benevolence, gave mankind a free will, which means that we have the choice to choose right from wrong, good from evil, and God over Satan. Therefore, to “set one’s mind” on something is to choose to think about it. To allow it to influence your goals and guide one’s ideology, principles, morals, and course of action. Thus, setting your mind on heavenly things, as opposed to earthly, temporal things, is how we choose Christ over the world.
