“A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.”

In his first epistle, Peter makes it clear that to those who believe, Jesus is a precious stone, but to those who do not, He is a “rejected stone, a stumbling block, and rock of offense” (1st Peter 2:7-8). To those who put their faith in Jesus, He is a rock upon which they can build their lives – a good and solid foundation. Yet to unbelievers, He is a stone that causes them to stumble, trip, and fall to their own ruin.
