BRIDEGROOM.
BRIDEGROOM.
Tonight....the devout service of the Bridegroom....
The Church shows us Christ as the Bridegroom,
as the Groom of the bride of our soul....
But why not with an icon with Christ
teaching, working miracles, praying?
For human logic, it is not the most amorous depiction of Christ after all these humiliations, slaps, spitting.....
This depiction comes to show us the beauty, the prettiness of sacrificial Love....
The love that does not consider obstacles as long as it reaches its desired object....
Here are those blessed mathematics of love:
‘‘As much as is spent (love) as much as it yields....’’
This blessed image of the Bridegroom Christ,
speaks to us, addresses tender words
to His beloved, our little soul
and says to her:
‘‘My precious, beloved soul
and so much more will I was passing by in order to find you.....
Why is my love for you so great.....’’
Trembling are the words
that come out of our soul:
‘’My sweet Jesus
I lower my eyes
because I am ashamed to behold
the magnitude of Your Love....
I become dizzy as I behold the depth of Your embrace....
And the more Your longing narrows me
the hungrier
for Your presence I feel.....
And the more Your Light narrows me
the denser I feel the darkness within me.....
Cover me, my Christ,
with the nakedness of Your humiliation
because my dressed-up shop window has become stained....’’
Father John Papadimitriou.
