"Make them sit down in companies, about fifty each." (Luke 9:14)

The feeding of the five thousand is perhaps one of our Lord's most famous miracles. Yet what makes this episode so memorable is the fact that our Lord does not provide one loaf of bread per individual, but asks everyone to sit down and "break bread" together – sharing this food amongst themselves as any family would. This specifically teaches us that all of God's gifts are meant to be shared and that sharing is a fundamental aspect of Christian love.
