Father Gabriel did not tolerate praise, therefore, having done a good deed, he instantly began to play the fool. We witnessed the healing of a demoniac, but Father Gabriel, trying to hide his gift from us, pretended to be defeated by the evil one. But Father Gabriel was such a strong prayer and follower of the commandments of God that the evil one could not defeat him. He humiliated himself before us, seemed feeble. Then we all perceived the way he wanted it. Only years later, the Lord enlightened our mind, and we became convinced of his wisdom. Unfortunately, then we often misunderstood him. And he reproached us: “You did not understand my love!”
