On Sept. 4th the french actor Gerard Depardieu converted to Orthodoxy in Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Paris. The ceremony was held surrounded by the actor's relatives - only about 30 people. On the same day, the actor became the godfather of the girl who was baptized in the same church.

According to the actor, his spiritual father is the priest Tikhon Shevkunov. The reason for the decision was also "love for the Orthodox liturgy" and his "connection with the Orthodox clergy."
