Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Forerunner

John the Baptist is considered the last in a long line of God’s prophets and, according to Jesus, the “greatest born of women” (Matt. 11:11). Yet John’s “greatness” did not involve wealth, power, or status, but his unique position in history as being the “Forerunner” of the Messiah, personally preparing and introducing the world to Christ’s arrival.
