Let us pray for the repose of nun Agapia!
November 19, 2023 - 40 days from the death of nun Agapia (Serdyukova) - the spiritual daughter and associate of the Glinsky Elders: Schema-Metropolitan Seraphim (Zinovia Mazhugi), Schema-Archimandrite Vitaly (Sidorenko), Schema-Archimandrite Andronik (Lukash), Schema-Archimandrite Seraphim (Romantsova).
Mother Agapia from a young age was jealous of monasticism and, having learned that the great Glinsky Elders were asceticizing in Georgia, She, as a very young girl, came to Tbilisi to the Church of the Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky to the Holy Ascetics and never left Them again. For many years she was regent at the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky and personal reader of Vladyka Zinovy. Mother spent the last years of her earthly life in the monastery of St. John-Tornike of the Holy Mountain in Mtskheta (the ancient capital of Georgia), spent her days in unceasing prayer and lamentation for all humanity. Out of great humility, She grieved that She did not have the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Once Mother Agapia asked the mothers if there were still martyrs at the present time and learned from the sisters that in Syria and Libya to this day the Orthodox suffer persecution and torment for Christ. At the age of 87, she was kindled with a flame to accept martyrdom for the Savior and asked the nuns about transport and the cost of the trip to Syria, but when she found out the price, she was very upset, since she, a non-covetous nun, did not have such funds. Several days passed, everyone had already forgotten about this conversation, and during morning prayer, Mother came to the temple with a backpack to ask the abbess for a blessing for her trip to Syria - for martyrdom. It turns out that a certain benefactor donated to Her an amount that would be enough for a trip to Syria. They tried to dissuade her for a long time, but Mother firmly stood her ground. The abbess reported to His Holiness and Beatitude Patriarch Ilia II, who personally knew nun Agapia, about Mother’s wishes. His Holiness persuaded mother not to go on such a long journey. Mother Agapia was very upset, but accepted the blessing with humility. From that day on, she went into seclusion and did not leave her cell until the end of her days.
On October 11, 2023, nun Agapia (Serdyukova), having received the Holy Mysteries of Christ, peacefully departed to the Lord.
