“Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” (Luke 12:15)

“Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” (Luke 12:15)

Covetousness is the desire to have what others have: wealth, possessions, status, home, property, or way of life. In modern terminology, we call it “keeping us with the Jones’.” Yet to always want what others have means we will never experience happiness or contentment because coveting is a bottomless, destructive, ruinous trap to one’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
