A person
isn’t saved by his deeds, but rather by the mercy of God. The crucified thief
hadn’t done a single good deed and he was the first to enter the Kingdom of
Heaven...
But, look at
the state of humility: I am deserving of all this and I am being punished
justly...
Which one of
us says that we are deserving of all things that happen to us?
When we
become ill, when a temptation comes, or when someone insults us... Oh, how
angry we become in such cases.
Do we love
our trials and tribulations? Do we have the state of the thief?
Our state is
more like: "Look at me, look how great I am!”
The crucified
thief was different...
