A veteran came to a Moscow church on Victory Day and asked to be baptized "right now."
The priests have already left, cell phones were rare then, and the distances in Moscow are not close. The old man was advised to agree on tomorrow, but he really asked for it today.
And, embarrassed, he added that someone had said to him in a dream: “Go to the church today and be baptized.”
There was no reason to write off the vision for the holidays - the veteran looked completely sober.
Out of respect for his venerable age and military awards, they began to call the priests and got through to one.
He arrived, performed the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation on the person, and led him into the altar, which is supposed to be done with every newly baptized male.
In the altar, the old man crossed himself, bowed and died.
He lived a very long life.
He lived differently, and God vouchsafed him to die immediately after Baptism - in angelic purity.
And in the most holy place of the temple. For what merit?
