“He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living.” (Mark 12:27)
“He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living.” (Mark 12:27)
In the above verse, the Slavonic word for “of the living” is zhivago…the same word that Boris Pasternak purposely used to denote the main character in his novel, Doctor Zhivago. He did this to show his anti-Soviet stance, as well as to subtly promote the fact that those who accept, believe, and live the life of Christ are "of the living."
