“As Sodom and Gomorrah…having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” (Jude 1:7)

Just as in the verse above, whenever we think of Sodom and Gomorrah, we think of a culture devoid of morals and values, obsessed with pleasures of the flesh. Yet how did this occur? How did they get so far flung from the “normal” ethical society they once were?

The answer is given by the Prophet Ezekiel who said the downfall of Sodom began with, “pride, arrogance, being overfed, having an overabundance of idleness, and being unconcerned with the poor and needy” (16:49). This life of ease naturally led them down the rabbit hole of sin through greater pleasures of a sensual nature.
