THE LOSS OF PARENTS
When parents die, nothing is the same. We can no longer be children, we will not feel covered by their hugs and their words of encouragement. It will seem like life is getting harder because our refuge is no longer by our side.
When the parents are no longer with us, we are orphans, and that is difficult, no matter how old we are.
Even though we may have created our own family, the knowledge of our parents is always by our side, or at least we can have them present.
All people, even if they are adults, have a child living in them who wants to be protected by their parents, or their parents love, all the time.
Surrender to their unconditional love whenever necessary, cos when they leave, that option will no longer be possible.
As Chico Xavier said:
"To honor father and mother is not only to respect them, but also to assist them in their needs; to give them rest in old age; to surround them with care, as they did for us in childhood."
