Monasticism is the exodus, the departure from the camp of this world into the desert, awaiting the Lord and bearing His reproach and all that this entails.l If God in His Providence granted us such strong grace as to detach us from all the passions of the world and open to us the ways of salvation; if He revealed to us the greatness of His Name and the creative power of His word at the beginning of our journey, we have hope that ‘He which hath begun a good work in us will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.’
