“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous…” (1st Peter 3:12)
The phrase, “the eyes of the Lord,” is an anthropomorphic expression ascribing humanlike characteristics to God Who is our omniscient, omnipotent Sovereign and Creator: All-knowing, All-seeing, All-ruling. Thus, like a good shepherd keeping watch over his flock, God’s eyes are also watching over us continually. Nothing escapes His purview; nothing escapes His attention.
His ever-present watch is comforting, knowing that we are not alone. He loves each of us intimately, will never forsake or abandon us, and offers his protection to those who seek shelter under His unfailing love.
