In the seventies, a group of Russian priests arrived on Mt. Athos. Going for a walk around the neighborhood, they came across an abandoned monastery. The next day they decided to serve the Liturgy there. One of them asked the Athos brethren about this skete and received the answer that no one has been living there and not serving.
And so they began the Liturgy, and during the service they see an ancient old monk crawling into the temple. So old that he cannot even walk very long, only crawl.
Even the oldest monks of the St. Panteleimon Monastery did not know who he was. Apparently, he was one of those still pre-revolutionary monks. He crawled and said barely audible:
“The Mother of God did not deceive me: She promised that I would receive communion before my death.”
They communed him and he died right in the temple.
